1. Overview
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how Biz Deal Vault ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information about members and visitors of the Biz Deal Vault website and platform (the "Service").
By creating an account, browsing the marketplace, posting a listing, sending an inquiry, or subscribing to a paid membership, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.
2. Information we collect
Account information you provide — name, email address, password (stored only as a hash), and any optional profile fields such as headline, title, company, location, photo, biography, industries, stages, regions, languages, and social links.
Listing and inquiry information — the contents of listings you post (titles, descriptions, financials, attachments) and the messages you send through our inquiry system.
Billing information — handled on our behalf by Stripe. We do not store your full card number, CVV, or bank account credentials; Stripe tokenizes and processes those.
Usage and technical data — pages visited, features used, approximate device and browser, IP address, and similar log data collected automatically when you use the Service.
3. How we use your information
To operate, maintain, and improve the Service — including displaying your public profile and listings to other members, routing inquiries to you, sending transactional and account-related emails, and detecting abuse.
To deliver the membership and paid features you signed up for — activating a Pro or Premium tier after a successful Stripe charge, persisting your tier in your profile and local browser storage, and revoking paid features if a subscription is cancelled or fails.
To provide you with information about other members — subject to the visibility controls described in Section 4 — so you can discover deals, capital, advisors, and services.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Your visibility controls & what other members see
You choose what is public. The Member Profile includes per-field switches for contact email, phone, website, social links (LinkedIn, Twitter, Crunchbase), location, and deal metrics such as check size and experience.
Private by default — your contact email and phone number are hidden unless you enable them or until a connection has been established through an inquiry.
When you send an inquiry to another member, your email and phone number you provided are shared with the recipient so they can respond. Once a connection is established, the recipient may also have their own contact details revealed to you according to their settings.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it in the following ways: (a) with other members, to the extent you have chosen to make fields visible or as needed to deliver an inquiry; (b) with our service providers that help run the platform — Stripe for payments, our email provider for delivery of transactional messages, and our hosting and infrastructure providers — under contracts that require them to protect the data and use it only to provide their service; and (c) when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Biz Deal Vault and our members.
6. Cookies & local storage
Biz Deal Vault is a members marketplace rather than an ad platform; we do not serve third-party advertising cookies.
We use your browser's local storage to remember your selected membership tier and member track across page reloads and visits, so your unlocked features and personalized experience persist without re-prompting. Signing out and clearing local storage will reset these values, after which the durable tier stored in your Member Profile is the source of truth.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations.
You may close your account at any time. After closure, we retain limited records to comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, and resolve disputes; we delete or anonymize other data that is no longer needed.
8. Your rights
You can access and correct your profile, listings, and most account fields at any time from your account. You can adjust or revoke visibility toggles at any time.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights — including the right to request a copy of your personal information, the right to request deletion, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the platform.
9. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to help protect your information — encrypted traffic, hashed password storage, and role-based access controls on members' financial data.
However, no method of transmission or storage is fully secure. You acknowledge that you provide your information at your own risk and that we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International users
Biz Deal Vault members are global. If you access the Service from outside the operating jurisdiction of Biz Deal Vault, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws. By using the Service, you consent to those transfers.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and update the effective date below. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
13. Contact
Questions about this Policy or a data request can be directed to us through the contact information available on the platform. For privacy-specific notices, please reference "Privacy Request" in your message.
